Want to know what’s made us mad this month? The sheer amount of ‘Get beach body ready’ rubbish which has already started to appear everywhere we turn.
As you almost certainly know if you are a regular Apples & Pears Clothing follower, we wholeheartedly believe everybody is summer ready just as they are without the need for weight loss programmes, exercise regimes or hair removal strategies.
This seasonal propaganda is so destructive and it really gets us cross. When it comes to arm shaming, it doesn’t seem to matter what season we are in – there is a regular onslaught of pressure to hide your arms away unless they conform to a skewed idea of ‘perfection’.
Take a look at #LoveYourArms on Insta and instead of an array of people showing off their arms in all of their glorious shapes and sizes, what do you find? Apart from the odd one or two BOPO images it’s just post after post after annoying post sharing slimming or exercise tips to banish your ‘bingo wings’.
Whether you are thinking of dressing for warmer weather, picking an outfit for an evening out or planning for a big occasion such as a wedding, the last thing you should be worrying about are your arms. But so many of us do.
At Apples & Pears we are determined not to bow down to this nonsense and we will be proudly baring our arms whenever and wherever we choose – and we are here to encourage you to do the same!
