The umbrella dress
An umbrella dress is a delight to wear when the weather is hot as it’s nice and loose helping you to keep your cool.
The name comes from the full flared skirt which (apparently!) resembles an umbrella when you give it a twirl! Though, maybe they should be renamed parasol dresses, as they are definitely best suited to summer in our humble opinion, and we don’t want to give the weather any ideas by talking about umbrellas!
We have a super cute umbrella dress as part of our new collection and everything about it screams summer. The flared skirt is taken to the next level with an embroidered tie dye design which pairs perfectly with the lace detail at the neckline.
The wrap dress
By far one of the favourite styles with Apples & Pears customers is the classic wrap dress.
Effortlessly stylish, this design closes by wrapping one side of the dress over the other and tying at the side or back, creating a v-neckline. They are really comfy as you can adjust the fit by how tightly the dress is tied, with the belt helping to create shape.
There are pretty much unlimited ways you can style a wrap dress. Wear it with heels for a night out, with trainers and a denim jacket for a lazy day or black leggings and a blazer for the office.
When tied, our grey and white check wrap dress offers a professional look that’s comfy, too. Or wear it loose over denim denim shorts and a vest top for a light summer layer.
The handkerchief hem dress
Handkerchief hem dresses have an asymmetric, playful hemline which is a great choice if you love the boho look.
The hem is made from panels of fabric that fall in points, rather like a handkerchief - hence the unusual name!
This cut is well and truly back on trend and looks fab with almost any shoe style from flip flops to wedges, making it a versatile choice if you are packing for a summer holiday.
Our tropical print handkerchief hem dress really is made for blue skies, white sand and a cocktail or two! With adjustable straps it is both relaxed and elegant. Just switch up the accessories to adjust the look.
The swing dress
Like so many of our customers we love a vintage vibe, and so swing dresses are right up our street!
Made popular in the 50s, swing dresses are designed to move beautifully when you walk or dance.
Flaring from the bust or the waist down, the skirt gives an A line shape which looks fabulous particularly when paired with a petticoat.
They are great for adding impact to your everyday look. For example, our paradise floral swing dress looks beautiful teamed with a simple denim jacket and a pair of pumps.
The maxi dress
Lightweight and flowy and cut to a longer length that just brushes your toes, there is so much to love about a maxi dress.
Usually fitted on top then flowing over the rest of your figure, the design is perfect for warmer weather but can easily be styled to suit all seasons.
Play around with different accessories and shoe styles to vary the look and try adding a blazer, shrug or cardie for those cooler days.
